The first official nudist beach in Portugal, is not so far from Lisbon but in a quiet region, with just a few little towns around (and not a building in sight from the beach). It's a very long beach backed by cliffs with plenty of space to walk or sunbathe.
Last visited: April 2015
From Lisbon, take motorway A2 to the south crossing 25 de Abril bridge. Exit onto N378 towards Sesimbra and then take N377 towards Alfarim. In the roundabout in the middle of the town, take the first exit onto Rua da Marconi. At the end of the street, turn right and follow road M561 to the parking areas in the beach.
You'll have to pay 1.50€ to park in the covered areas, but it seems there are also a few free places next to the beach bars (completely full, even in April).

The beach

The beach is backed by a line of low cliffs where rock slides seem to be frequent. At least, this is what you can read on the red signs all along the beach. The rocks behind some of them show that there is a real risk if you are very close. Please be careful and avoid doing things like climbing the cliffs.
While the reputation of the beach and the number of parking places suggest that it could be crowded during summer, having visited it on April I found an almost deserted beach. In the first 200 m of the nudist section there were something like 15 people, and no more than 5 (including me) in the rest. The video below shows that this is not always the case.

Facilities
There are two beach bars in the textile area. In summertime it seems you can find lifeguards and rental sunbeds, but not in the naturist section.
Nudism

In the north, it starts right after the huge rock in front of the main parking area.
In the south, the sign is in the middle of the wider section of Rio da Prata beach, but you can be nude until you reach a rocky outcrop. In fact, out of the official naturist area, the north part of the next beach (Bicas), can sometimes also host some nudists.
I can say that I walk naked into this last beach and only felt compelled to cover when I realised everybody else around were clothed. Anyway, nobody raised an eyebrow about my nudity (but remember, it was April and "everybody else" means just 8 or 10 people).

I like:
- Long beach, plenty of space for everybody
- Official nudist section perfectly marked
I don't like:
- Possibility of rock slides from the cliffs
