If you are a naturist, you don't mind being seen nude, and you prefer the hustle and bustle of the city instead of the peace of a virgin paradise, La Zurriola is your beach. In the centre of San Sebastian, this huge beach offers plenty of space for everybody, not only nudists, but also surfers, textile families...

San Sebastian lies in the Basque Country, just minutes from the Spanish-French border. You get there through the A-8 motorway.
La Zurriola is right in the city centre, just a few steps from the renowned old town and La Concha beach, and in front of the Kuursal auditorium that hosts every year the famous international film festival. You can find plenty of parking places around the beach, but also use the network of bycicle lanes or the public transports to get there.

The beach
A 400 m long breakwater separates the beach from the mouth of Urumea river. From here, the beach extends 700m to the east up to the foot of Ulia hill. There is a nice promenade all along the beach.
Although not as famous or historical as its counterpart in the other river bank (La Concha beach), La Zurriola is a very popular beach among San Sebastian citizens. Always used by local people, it was enlarged not long ago and now it offers a vast amount of golden sand at low tide and can congregate thousands of people.
The big waves make this beach the preferred by surfers in San Sebastian.

Facilities
It is an urban beach, so we could find everything in the promenade or around it. The beach itself has lifeguards and showers.
Nudism
It is not very common here. Don't forget that it lays in the centre of one of the most visited cities in northern Spain. However, you can stay naked near the breakwater, passed the last stairs. The rocks can offer you some privacy.
I can imagine you will not be very wellcome if you decide to go for a nude walk along the beach. At least, you will get lots of regards.

Other nude beaches in the area
- Santa Clara
- Zarautz
- Saturraran
- Les deux jumeaux
I like:
- You don't have to move out of the city to get naked
I don't like:
- Nudism restricted to a very small area
