Probably the most famous spot in Fuerteventura. In the narrowest section of the island, it marks the norh end of Jandia peninsula. At low tide, the sea discovers an archipielago of thousands of sand banks and shallow chanels in the closest experience to a tropical desert island you can have in Europe.
Last visited: august 2012
It is only 2 km south of Costa Calma, a popular tourist resort in Fuerteventura. Follow the road FV-2 until you get to the first roundabout and take the exit on your right. Follow this small road for around another kilometer towards the Melia Gorriones hotel and an unpaved parking place next to the north end of the beach.
To the south end, continue for another 5 km along the main road and then take the exit to the left.
It is a long stretch of golden sand (more than 5 km long), and incredibly wide at low tide. Huge is the word that best describes it.
You will always remember this beach if you visit it. First, because of its changing shape with the tide, when shallow waters recede leading to an infinite number of little "sandy islands".
And unfortunately (unless you love water sports), the beach is worlwide known for the strong wind. Conditions in this part of Fuerteventura are usually perfect for water sports, and it hosts annually one of the events in the windsurf and kiteboarding world cup. Don't forget that what is perfect for riders can be a nightmare for sunbathers.

Facilities
Definitely not an urban beach, but there are enough facilities here to enjoy a beach day if you like some civilised comfort. There are a few beach bars, sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, and even windsurf schools.
Nudism
This is not the most nudist-friendly beach in the area, but avoid the crowded areas around the hotels, and you will not have any problem to find a conveniently isolated spot to take your clothes off.
There is not anything you can hide behind, so this is not a place for shy people. But don't worry so much about this: textile strollers along the shore will see you, but they will surely not care about you.

I like:
- A huge beach, with plenty of space for everybody.
- The view from the road. It is even better than from the beach.
I don't like:
- The wind
