Inlcuding Zarautz in a list of nude beaches may sound strange taking into account that it is an urban beach right in the town centre. But being the longest beach in the Basque Country, its eastern half is more or less isolated by a golf course. Anyway, do not expect an empty beach, it is usually overcrowded on sunny days.
Zarautz is a large town not far from San Sebastian, with an easy access to the highway A-8 and a good public transport network. Once there, most of the beach is in the town centre, with a nice promenade along it.
The beach
It is more than 1 km long. The width is highly variable, dependint on the tides. To the east, its boundaries are the river Iñurritza and a golf course. To the west, the city of Zarautz. The beach was affected by the heavy winter storms in 2014, damaging parts of the promenade and the golf course fence.
Zarautz has excellent conditions for surfing (like most beaches in the spanish north coast), and so there are several surf schools in the area.

Facilities
Since this is an urban beach with thousands of people, you have all kind of facilities in the beach promenade. There are also lifeguards watching the beach.
Nudism
It is not very common here, only in the area in front of the golf course and most frequently in the eastern end. There is not any division between naturist and textile areas. Everybody is mixed, so when you take off your swimsuit it is highly probable that everybody around you is clothed. Nevertheless, the worst reaction you can expect are some people looking startled at you.

I like:
- Accessible and with facilities, something strange in a nudist beach
I don't like:
- Sometimes it is overcrowded
- The golf course in what should be a natural environment
