From Gijon, follow the road that leads to La Providencia. After a couple of kilometers uphill you see a detour on your left to Peñarrubia. Go down to a small parking lot on top of the beach.
It is also possible to get there on foot along the seafront promenade, which turns into a nice path as you reach the campsite. In total, not more than three kilometers from the city. with some uphill and downhill slopes but beautiful views over the coast.

The beach
A mix of sand and gravel, surrounded by high cliffs. Being so easily accessible, it was very popular both for nudists and textiles. Big waves and currents, so not an easy place to siwm. Even when it was opened, there was a certain risk of rocks falling from the cliffs.
Services
When opened, there were showers and lifeguards.
Nudism
It was one of the first nude beaches in Asturias. The high cliffs give privacy, even if the beach can be spotted from several points along the promenade (sometimes you can find gawkers). Its natural beauty so close to a very populated area attracts here textiles looking for a quiet beach as opposed to the overcrowded urban ones. Not really a problem, anyway.
I like:
- Easy access from the city
- It may be overcrowded some days
