Nude beaches: Cofete

These people in the picture are the only ones on a beach more than 12 km long. Cofete is the best example of a deserted beach. Only accessible from the touristic areas of Fuerteventura by an unpaved road that crosses over a mountain chain, windy and exposed to the currents and high waves of the west coast, those coming here are looking for the peace and quietness of this unspoiled place.

How to get there
It is quite difficult. In this part of southern Fuerteventura there are not any road. The only way is passing over the mountains that separate the east and west coast. In Morro Jable, take the road to the southern end of the island and then turn on the right. This road is paved initially, but soon transforms into a bumpy road you will have to follow for 20 km. At the beginning is not very complicated, even if there are several bends. The way down is worse, with steep slopes, holes and stones in the middle of the road... A 4WD vehicle is not completely neccessary, but highly advisable.
There is a large parking lot right next to the beach. Park there and do not follow the track that goes into the beach. Chances of getting trapped in the sand are high.

The beach
Most stay at the south end, close to the parking lot, but the beach extends over 12 km and it is incredibly wide. Usually, as soon as you move from there you can not see anybody else.
The wind can sometimes become unpleasant,  but the main drawback of Cofete (apart from the isolation) are the strong sea currents that make swimming very dangerous.

Services
Nothing at all around the beach, you have to take with you al you need. If you plan to walk to the end of the beach, do not forget water and something to protect from the sun, because there you will not find any shade.

Nudism
Near the parking lot most people wear swimsuit, but the isolation of the beach invites to nudism and even here you can find nude people. If you are looking for privacy, you only need to move a few metres to the north and you will only come across occasional walkers, most of them nude. I can not think of a better place if you are looking for a place to give your first steps in nudism.
